Cubicspace is pleased to announce that the long-awaited version 2.0 of Realtime rtre™ will be released in early 2008. This powerful visualization plug-in allows designers to easily publish their 3D scenes as fully interactive stand-alone executable files. Features unique to rtre 2.0 include new movement modes, support for procedural maps and materials, better collisions, variable gravity and support for normal mapping. The interface has been revamped to allow for seamless workflow by making menus more intuitive and placing commands in floating dialogs and within program quad menus. Realtime rtre™ will be an Autodesk Certified Animation Plug-in available for 3ds Max 9 and 2008. Click here to view the current version, rtre 1.1.

TurboSquid had great success at Autodesk University promoting Tentacles, a free plug-in that makes it easy to find and purchase new content, organize and back up your critical work files and develop workspaces directly in your favorite 3D applications. At the conference, TurboSquid demonstrated Tentacles' compatibility with 3ds Max 2008; in addition, version 3.2 of the plug-in also works with earlier versions of 3ds Max, Maya, XSI and Cinema 4D. Artist Publishing Tip #2: Converting to Other Formats

Converting to other formats expands your market. Even if you lose some of the model’s attributes in the conversion process, you can always have the fully textured and rigged model in your original format as one asset and a non-textured, polygon-only model as a separate asset in multiple formats. Always include the associated files, such as texture maps, point clouds, xref'd files, etc. The files you upload should be all the customer will need to re-apply any attributes of the model that have been lost.
